Alex was born a performer. A child model in her native Barbados, she also made waves with her sporting ability as national swimming champion as well as representing her country at golf. She spent 10 years learning ballet, jazz and tap dancing where she caught the performing bug and starred in productions across the island including the musical “Sur La Plage” and “Sleeping Beauty”.

At 16, Alex won a prestigious Prince of Wales scholarship to a United World College to study the International Baccalaureate on Vancouver Island where she became fluent in French and Spanish. She went on to receive an honours degree from McGill University in Montreal in Third World Politics and Modern Languages, but returned to front a drive time radio show on 104.1 Yess FM in Barbados and continue her love of sports, playing for the Barbados Women’ Squash team. As a personality Alex became the poster girl for Barbados Carnival, the voice of Banks Beer and worked successfully as a broadcaster while working for the United Nations Drug Control Programme. She continued to make a name for herself as the face of The Plantation Tropical Spectacular, a live show that led Maxi Priest to ask Alex to tour with him. Instead Alex embarked on a U.S tour with a Caribbean Rock Band, across 15 cities and 3 states as the presenter on a tour reaching thousands of American college students.
