Alex
was born a performer. A child model in her native Barbados,
she also made waves with her sporting ability as national
swimming champion as well as representing her country
at golf. She spent 10 years learning ballet, jazz and
tap dancing where she caught the performing bug and
starred in productions across the island including the
musical “Sur La Plage” and “Sleeping
Beauty”.
At 16, Alex won a prestigious Prince of Wales scholarship
to a United World College to study the International
Baccalaureate on Vancouver Island where she became fluent
in French and Spanish. She went on to receive an honours
degree from McGill University in Montreal in Third World
Politics and Modern Languages, but returned to front
a drive time radio show on 104.1 Yess FM in Barbados
and continue her love of sports, playing for the Barbados
Women’ Squash team. As a personality Alex became
the poster girl for Barbados Carnival, the voice of
Banks Beer and worked successfully as a broadcaster
while working for the United Nations Drug Control Programme.
She continued to make a name for herself as the face
of The Plantation Tropical Spectacular, a live show
that led Maxi Priest to ask Alex to tour with him. Instead
Alex embarked on a U.S tour with a Caribbean Rock Band,
across 15 cities and 3 states as the presenter on a
tour reaching thousands of American college students.
